CCTV footage shows the vehicle entering the parking lot at 3:19 pm and leaving at 6:48 pm, with the blast occurring around 6:50 pm. The suspect, identified as Dr Umar from a Faridabad module, appears in the footage wearing a black mask while seated in the driver's seat.
Viral videos captured the loud explosion followed by people shouting 'run run' in panic as they fled the scene. Delhi Police Special Cell, NSG, and NIA are investigating the incident. In response, a high alert has been declared across India. Security has been heightened at the Mata Vaishno Devi cave temple, Katra, and Jammu city in Jammu-Kashmir. In Kolkata, hotels housing the Indian and South African cricket teams for the first Test match starting November 14 have seen tightened security. Major cities and states including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh are also on alert.
The attack appears to resemble a fidayeen-style operation, though investigations continue.
