The Guest List shares single on modern masculinity

The Manchester indie band The Guest List released the single 'If Ever Your Devil Is Kind' on July 3. The track comes from the group's debut album 'Something Real', scheduled for release on August 28.

The song addresses themes of loneliness, resentment and unfulfilled expectations placed on men. Frontman Cai Alty sings the line “Why the fuck aren’t you happy yet?” while the band describes the track as closing Side A of the album and featuring its only live string arrangement.

The Guest List recorded the album in Norway with collaborator Matias Tellez and co-producer James Skelly of The Coral. It also includes the earlier singles 'Something Real' and 'You Should Care'.

The band is scheduled to appear at several UK festivals this summer, including Reading & Leeds, Boardmasters, Latitude, Tramlines and Victorious. A European and UK headline tour begins in the autumn with a show at London’s Scala.
