Three Ethiopian entrepreneurs named among Africa’s Top 100 Business Heroes for 2026

Three Ethiopian entrepreneurs have been selected for the 2026 Top 100 Africa’s Business Heroes list from over 24,000 applicants across the continent.

Bersufekad Getachew Amare is the founder and CEO of Eagle Lion Group. The company operates in fintech, digital banking, agriculture, travel and media. His team developed CashGo and EthioDirect remittance platforms.

Nael Hailemariam is co-founder and CEO of Chapa. Samson Fentaye is co-founder and CEO of Ter Biotech. The Africa’s Business Heroes program was launched by the Jack Ma Foundation and has allocated $10 million over 10 years.

In August Bersufekad and his fellow Ethiopian innovators will travel to Nairobi to pitch to judges. Their goal is to reach the Top 10 finalists and claim a share of the $1.5 million grant.

Nigeria's Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and MRS Holdings founder Alhaji Sayyu Idris Dantata have been named Vanguard Personalities of the Year at the 2025 awards ceremony in Lagos. English blogger Harry Jaggard, influential on social media, has selected Ethiopia as his top pick from Africa in his "7 Continents, 7 Countries, No Excuses" global travel challenge. Announced on May 10, 2018 EC, he cited Ethiopia's rich history, stunning natural beauty, and unique hospitality as reasons for his choice.
