The Artificial Intelligence Institute has announced the top 20 musicians from over 600 entries in Ethiopia's first AI music contest, following its launch last month. The event, organized with Fana Media Corporation and xAI, offers winners a 1 million birr prize.

Building on the competition launched on Megabit 14, 2018 EC (March 23, 2026) which drew over 33,500 registrations and hundreds of submissions, Fana Media Corporation, the Artificial Intelligence Institute (EAII), and xAI hosted the selection announcement on Miazia 19, 2018 EC in Addis Ababa.

From more than 600 participant works, the top 20 musicians were selected on the final day.

A 1 million birr prize awaits the ultimate winners.

This human-evaluated AI music contest leverages technology to assess human creativity, providing talented musicians opportunities to showcase skills to employers and audiences. The institute advances AI research to tackle societal challenges and aims to position Ethiopia as Africa's AI hub by 2030.
