Três feridos em confronto entre polícia e manifestantes em Moyale

Pelo menos três pessoas ficaram feridas quando a polícia abriu fogo contra manifestantes na cidade de Moyale nesta quinta-feira. Os manifestantes exigiam a libertação de dois anciãos sequestrados e o fim da construção de um acampamento de segurança proposto.

Os confrontos começaram após uma manhã de protestos pacíficos. A polícia respondeu com gás lacrimogêneo e testemunhas relataram que os oficiais dispararam munição real, deixando uma pessoa ferida por um tiro. Os feridos foram levados para o Hospital de Referência de Moyale Sub-County.

Os manifestantes exigiram a libertação do ex-chefe Dabassa Dambi e do ancião da comunidade Gurach Dambala, que teriam sido sequestrados em 9 e 10 de maio. Eles também pediram a interrupção do planejado acampamento de segurança de Tittu e expressaram preocupações sobre mudanças de limites que, segundo eles, transferem partes do Condado de Marsabit para o Condado de Wajir.
