Ubisoft expands triple-A games to Apple devices

Ubisoft has announced plans to port several of its major titles to Apple hardware, starting with Assassin's Creed Mirage on select iPhones and iPads. The publisher revealed during Apple's WWDC 2024 that the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows will launch simultaneously on macOS, consoles, and Windows PC. Additional games like Rabbids: Legends of the Multiverse and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown are also heading to Apple platforms.

Ubisoft, a leading video game publisher, is intensifying its efforts to deliver high-profile franchises to Apple ecosystems. In May 2024, the company confirmed that Assassin's Creed Mirage would arrive on Apple devices. This marks the first port of a full-scale Assassin's Creed console title to mobile platforms. The game, which follows the character Basim's transformation from a street thief to a Master Assassin in 9th-century Baghdad, will be playable exclusively on iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models, as well as iPad Pro and iPad Air devices released from 2021 onward.

The momentum continued at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 livestream. Ubisoft executive producer Marc-Alexis Cote disclosed that Assassin's Creed Shadows is scheduled for release on macOS on November 15, aligning with its debut on consoles and Windows PC. This simultaneous launch highlights Apple's growing appeal for AAA gaming, bolstered by the Metal API and M-series chips.

Ubisoft has already released Rabbids: Legends of the Multiverse, a humorous battle card game, on Apple Arcade. The company also plans to bring Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown to macOS later in 2024, capitalizing on Apple's hardware advancements. These moves coincide with Apple's introduction of a new game mode for iOS 18, signaling stronger ties between the tech giant and traditional gaming publishers.
