Universal Pictures has scheduled the Snoop Dogg biopic Snoop for release on August 6, 2027. The R-rated film stars Jonathan Daviss in the title role and is directed by Craig Brewer.
The project replaces an untitled Universal event film on the studio's slate. It will open alongside Disney's The Bluey Movie and Black Bear's Jason Statham Stole My Bike.
Craig Brewer is directing from a script he rewrote based on an original by Joe Robert Cole. The movie marks the first project under Death Row Pictures' overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment.
Producers include Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment, Snoop Dogg, and Death Row Pictures President Sara Ramaker. The film will feature music from the rapper's catalog.
Universal first announced the biopic in 2022. Snoop Dogg said at CinemaCon that production is expected to begin this summer.
