Wife of teacher who died by suicide files complaint against education ministry

The wife of Caroline Grandjean-Paccoud, a teacher who died by suicide in Cantal after homophobic threats, has filed a complaint against the National Education for harassment. The complaint also targets the mayor of Moussages. The case was announced by the Aurillac prosecutor.

Caroline Grandjean-Paccoud, director of a school in Moussages in the Cantal region, died by suicide on September 1st, the first day of the school year. She had been the target of anonymous threats and homophobic remarks. Her wife, Christine Paccoud, filed a complaint against the National Education for 'harassment,' as well as against the mayor of the village of Moussages, where the primary school she led is located.

Aurillac prosecutor Sandrine Delorme announced the complaint on Wednesday to AFP, without further details. This case highlights tensions related to homophobia in education, particularly in a rural setting like Cantal. The National Education has not yet responded publicly to these allegations. The suicide of Caroline Grandjean-Paccoud raises questions about psychological support for teachers facing such discrimination.
