Wild boars damage parts of golf course in Värnamo

Värnamo Golf Club has suffered significant damage from wild boars just before the season starts. A wild boar sow rooted up areas at seven to eight holes despite an electric fence. The club is repairing with volunteer efforts.

Värnamo Golf Club, home course for golf professional Louise Rydqvist and featuring 27 holes, has been damaged by a wild boar sow. The animal entered the course and rooted up turf at seven to eight holes, despite a 12-kilometer electric fence around the facility. P4 Jönköping first reported the incident. The damage occurred just before the golf season's start, posing major challenges for the club. Chairman Peter Groning stated: “We have volunteers on it, but it's quite a few hours of work to lift the turf back.” The club has tried to target the sow with hunters, but it has evaded them so far. Repairs are underway with volunteers replacing the turf.
