DPR RI member from NasDem faction, Ahmad Sahroni, was reappointed as Vice Chairman of Commission III in a plenary meeting in Jakarta on Thursday, February 19, 2026. The appointment replaces Rusdi Masse Mappasessu, who left NasDem. Sahroni had previously been deactivated due to controversial statements.
In a plenary meeting led by Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on February 19, 2026, Ahmad Sahroni from the NasDem faction was reappointed as Vice Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI. The commission handles matters related to politics, law, and security.
Sahroni had previously been deactivated by the NasDem Party and the DPR RI's Honor Council (MKD) due to his controversial statements at the end of August 2025. At that time, he was transferred to Commission I of the DPR RI, and his position was taken by Rusdi Masse Mappasessu. The NasDem Party's Central Executive Board also deactivated Sahroni along with Nafa Urbach for statements deemed to deviate from the party's struggles. The MKD imposed a six-month deactivation sanction, counted from the party's deactivation.
Rusdi Masse later left NasDem and joined the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), opening the position for Sahroni's return. The appointment was based on a letter from the NasDem Faction Leadership in the DPR RI, Number F-NasDem/107/DPR RI/II/2026, dated February 12, 2026.
Dasco stated, "Thus, the leadership of Commission III DPR from the NasDem Faction undergoes a change from Mr. Rusdi Masse Mappasessu A24 replaced by Ahmad Sahroni A384." He then sought approval from the Commission III members, who responded "Agreed."
Sahroni expressed thanks to Dasco and other Commission III members, and conveyed greetings for the upcoming Ramadan month. "Thank you to the MKD Leadership for trying my case, and hopefully I will be better going forward," said Sahroni.
With this appointment, the leadership of Commission III DPR RI is now: Chairman Habiburokhman (Gerindra Faction), Vice Chairman Dede Indra Permana Sudiro (PDIP Faction), Vice Chairman Ahmad Sahroni (NasDem Faction), and Vice Chairman M. Rano Alfath (PKB Faction).
