Axfood recalls ground meat due to salmonella

Axfood is recalling imported ground meat in 1kg packages because it contains salmonella bacteria, according to a press release from the food giant. The product was sold at Willys and Hemköp stores.

On November 8, 2025, Axfood announced a recall of a specific batch of imported ground meat due to salmonella contamination. The recall affects 1kg packages with a best before date of 2025-11-12 and batch number 5281041084. These were sold at Willys and Hemköp stores.

Axfood's quality manager Susanna Wadegård stated in the press release: 'We take this very seriously, are now investigating with the supplier how this could happen and how we can ensure something similar does not occur again.' The company notes that no illnesses have been reported in connection with the product.

The recall aims to protect consumers from potential health risks associated with salmonella, which can cause food poisoning. Axfood urges customers who purchased the affected product to return it to the store for a refund. This is the latest in a series of food-related recalls in Sweden, though details on the supplier and import source are not specified in the announcement.
