Leaders from Kenya's Coast region led by ministers and the Senate Speaker have started public meetings to encourage residents to register as voters and support President William Ruto in the 2027 election.
The leaders including Ministers Hassan Joho and Salim Mvurya along with Senate Speaker Amason Kingi are working with Coast governors to visit all parliamentary constituencies.
They have already visited areas such as Likoni, Matuga, Kaloleni and Jomvu and are now in Mvita. They want residents to obtain national IDs and register to deliver four million votes.
Senator Mohammed Faki said the Coast region has the potential to provide those votes but the challenge is people not collecting IDs. Some opposition leaders do not support the plan.
