Georgia woman charged with suffocating two infant sons

Dakota Taylor, a 21-year-old from Georgia, faces murder charges for the deaths of her two sons, whom she allegedly suffocated years apart. Authorities say she confessed to the killings, including holding their nostrils shut until they stopped breathing. Taylor also has a history of threatening her daughters, leading to their placement in foster care.

Dakota Taylor was arrested in November 2025 by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for the murder of her 8-month-old son, Caleb, who died in January 2025. She was already in custody related to the 2021 death of her 7-month-old son, Micah. According to police, Taylor admitted to suffocating both boys by pinching their noses and covering their faces.

Taylor's troubles with child welfare began earlier. As a teenager, she came under scrutiny from the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services over her two daughters. In fall 2020, while pregnant with Micah and living in a group home, Taylor allegedly threatened to kill the girls via Twitter and text messages. She also reportedly held a knife to one daughter's throat to stop the father from leaving. Deemed a danger, the girls were placed in foster care and later adopted. A case worker described Taylor as showing a "lack of attachment" and being "unfit to parent her children."

Micah was born in early 2021. At seven months old, after Taylor briefly ran away from the group home, he was found unresponsive and blue in a baby swing. A group home employee attempted aid, but he was pronounced dead. Body camera footage captured officers noting Taylor's "nonchalant" and unemotional demeanor.

For Caleb, Taylor brought him to a relative's house covered by a blanket, with his hands blue. He was unresponsive and died at a hospital. An inmate reported that Taylor confessed to killing him before the drive.

Micah's father recounted in a 2023 interview: "She told me she cut the inside of my son's nose and held a COVID mask over his face until he wasn't breathing anymore." Taylor's half-sister provided a similar account, saying Taylor pinched the nose and held a hand over the face "until he turned different colors until he wasn't moving anymore."

Taylor faces murder charges in Jefferson and DeKalb counties. At a March bond hearing in Jefferson County, she received a $150,000 cash bond and $300,000 property bond, which her family said she could not afford. No bond was granted in DeKalb County, with her next appearance set for April 7.
