India's defense chief visits PT Pindad

India's Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, visited PT Pindad in Bandung on Monday (27/10/2025) to explore defense cooperation. The visit was welcomed by company leaders and included discussions on similarities between the two nations' industries. The meeting is expected to open opportunities for joint alpalhankam product development.

General Anil Chauhan's visit to PT Pindad aims to strengthen defense ties between India and Indonesia. The CDS delegation was welcomed by PT Pindad's Special Vehicles General Manager, Hery Mochtady, and management staff on October 27, 2025, in Bandung.

In his remarks, Hery Mochtady explained that PT Pindad has already collaborated with several Indian manufacturing and materials industries. He expressed openness to opportunities for alpalhankam development cooperation. "Currently, Pindad is developing the latest defense products, one of which is the SS3 weapon and the Maung vehicle. Today's meeting and discussion are hoped to open up cooperation opportunities for both parties going forward," said Hery.

General Anil Chauhan stated that India's defense industry is increasingly modern to support national needs. He highlighted similarities between the defense and manufacturing industries of both countries, including historical development, processed resources, and focus on domestic alpalhankam production. "Our defense and manufacturing industries have several similarities such as their historical journey, processed resources, and focus on domestic Alpalhankam production. The difference lies only in the research and development (R&D) process of products which is done separately from the manufacturing process," said General Anil.

He added that private industries in India support R&D to production. The delegation also reviewed PT Pindad's products and hopes for knowledge exchange. Activities included visits to the Weapons Division and Special Vehicles Division, product presentations, discussion sessions, souvenir exchanges, and group photos.

This visit indicates potential for further collaboration, given the similarities in both countries' industries.
