Nashik police submit chargesheet in TCS harassment case

Nashik City police filed a 1,500-page chargesheet on Friday in the TCS sexual harassment case. The National Commission for Women separately directed TCS to set up internal committees in all units.

The chargesheet was submitted in the first of nine FIRs registered in connection with the case. It names Danish Ijaz Sheikh, Tausif Bilal Attar, Nida Ejaz Khan and Matin Majeed Patel as accused. The original FIR was lodged at Deolali camp police station on March 26.

Police added sections including sexual intercourse by a person in authority and abetment. Evidence includes statements from 17 witnesses recorded before a magistrate, medical reports, mobile screenshots and WhatsApp chats. Investigation continues for a possible supplementary chargesheet.

On May 21 the National Commission for Women held a hearing and directed TCS to form separate internal committees in all 127 units with 10 or more employees within four weeks. The commission cited gaps in PoSH compliance at the Nashik unit and asked for annual reports and training programmes.
