Former Formula 1 presenter Will Buxton says Red Bull has regretted not signing Oscar Piastri as a junior driver for years. The team is now targeting the McLaren driver as a potential replacement for Max Verstappen.

Will Buxton shared his views on the Up To Speed podcast. He noted that Red Bull has publicly stated its wish to have signed Piastri earlier and avoid letting him join the Alpine Academy before McLaren secured him. Buxton added that the Milton Keynes outfit knows it missed the opportunity with the young Australian driver.
