Simon Pegg to Voice Balrog in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3

Prime Video announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Simon Pegg will voice the Balrog in Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The casting was revealed during a panel in Hall H on July 24. Additional cast members and a teaser trailer were also unveiled.

Simon Pegg, known for roles in Star Trek and The Boys, will provide the voice for the fiery demon when it speaks for the first time in the series. The announcement came via a video shown exclusively to the audience at the convention.

Other new cast additions include Eddie Marsan as Thráin, brother of King Durin IV; Andrew Richardson as Anárion, Elendil's younger son; and Adam Young as the Orc Marnükh. These join previously announced actors Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn and Zubin Varla as Khamûl the Easterling.

The series was renewed for Season 3 in February 2025. It is scheduled to premiere with four episodes on November 11, followed by two episodes on November 18 and the final two on November 25. A teaser trailer for the season was also released during the panel.

The upcoming season is set five years after the fall of Eregion, with Sauron's forces advancing across Middle-earth as the free peoples prepare to resist.
