In 2025, PFF graded him higher as a pass rusher. Pittsburgh, coming off a division title—their first since 2020—and amid run defense struggles, plans to deploy him at nose tackle behind Keeanu Benton or rotate with Cam Heyward and Derrick Harmon at defensive end. The defensive line also features Yahya Black. This is Pittsburgh's latest free-agency move, following signings of cornerback Jamel Dean, safety Jaquan Brisker, and safety Darnell Savage Jr. Joseph-Day will reunite with former Rams teammate Jalen Ramsey.
