A teenage girl in her late teens has died in Luleå from a suspected drug overdose. A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence causing death and drug offenses. The man is believed to have supplied the girl with narcotics.
Last week, a girl in her late teens was found lifeless in an apartment in Luleå. She was rushed to the hospital by ambulance but could not be saved. The preliminary suspicion is that she died from a drug overdose, according to prosecutor Jonas Fjellström.
A man in his 30s, registered at the address where the girl was found, has now been arrested. He is suspected of gross negligence causing another's death and drug offenses. Police and the prosecutor believe the man, who is well-known in drug circles, supplied the girl with narcotics.
"It is a very tragic event where a girl has died. We suspect that she died from an overdose and that the detained man, who is well-known in drug circles, supplied her with narcotics," says Jonas Fjellström, public prosecutor, to SVT News.
The man has been interrogated by police and denies the crimes. The prosecutor has not yet decided whether to seek his detention. The incident serves as a tragic reminder of the risks of drug use among young people.
