Texas man charged in fatal shooting during truck recovery

A 37-year-old Houston man faces murder and robbery charges after allegedly shooting and killing a father of five who was trying to recover his son's stolen truck. The incident occurred over the weekend in northeast Houston.

London Hogan Sr. stands accused of one count each of murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the death of 56-year-old Louis Erebia. Authorities said the shooting took place Saturday afternoon near Tidwell Road and John Ralston Road. Deputies reported that Hogan first stole a Chevy Silverado at a gas station from Erebia's son. The father later tracked the vehicle using its GPS device, leading to a collision. After the crash, Hogan allegedly shot at Erebia and a friend who were pursuing him on foot. Erebia died from his wounds while his friend survived. Hogan was arrested the following day and remains in the Harris County Jail after a judge denied bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 22. Hogan's attorney told reporters his client is claiming self-defense. Erebia's family held a press conference on Monday and described him as a hero who died protecting others.
