125,000 visitors attend La Nit dels Museus in Barcelona

La Nit dels Museus drew 125,000 people to 94 cultural centers across Barcelona and its metropolitan area on Saturday night.

The event ran from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. to mark International Museum Day on May 18. Organizers from the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona noted an 8.7 % rise in attendance compared with last year.

The MNAC attracted the largest crowd, with 17,028 visitors, and featured a DJ session plus a Gregotechno concert. Other busy sites included the Museu d’Història de Barcelona, which welcomed 12,914 people, and the CCCB, which drew 4,124 during the DocsBarcelona festival.

New venues such as the Gran Hotel Barcino and the Reial Monestir de Santa Maria de Pedralbes took part. Youth-focused activities emphasizing music and urban arts helped broaden participation, the ICUB reported.
