A 55-year-old man dies from heat stroke in Sevilla

A 55-year-old man died this Saturday after suffering heat stroke at his home in Cantillana, Sevilla. He spent ten days hospitalized at Hospital Virgen Macarena and is the fifth heat-related fatality in Andalusia.

The Regional Ministry of Presidency, Health and Emergencies of the Junta de Andalucía confirmed the death. The man had risk factors according to the Andalusian Coordination Protocol against the Effects of Excessive Temperatures on Health 2026.

Since the start of the season, 1,081 emergencies for heat-related pathologies have been recorded along with 18 heat stroke cases, five of which have been fatal. Other victims include a 59-year-old woman on July 9 and a 48-year-old man on July 8, both in Sevilla.

Temperatures in Andalusia will stay below 36 degrees until next week, according to local reports.
