The African Democratic Congress has rejected the Tinubu administration's focus on a letter from US President Donald Trump. The opposition party said diplomatic notes cannot replace Nigerians' judgment on security and economic issues.
The African Democratic Congress issued a statement on Thursday in Abuja through National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi. The party said the reported letter from President Donald Trump represents standard diplomatic practice and does not address ongoing challenges such as insecurity in Borno, Kwara and Benue states.
Abdullahi stated that the administration appears desperate to use foreign gestures as proof of success. He added that a letter from abroad cannot substitute for improvements in citizens' daily lives or resolve travel advisories maintained by the US Department of State.
The ADC urged the government to focus on protecting lives and delivering results at home rather than celebrating correspondence from foreign capitals. The party maintained that Nigerians will judge the administration by its domestic performance.
