Buya Yahya explains Umrah rewards in Ramadan without replacing Hajj duty

Buya Yahya clarifies misconceptions about performing Umrah in Ramadan that many Muslims hold.

In his study session Buya Yahya quoted the hadith of the Prophet SAW stating Umratun fi Ramadhana ta'dilu Hajjatan. This indicates that Umrah performed in Ramadan carries a reward equivalent to Hajj. Buya Yahya stressed that the equivalence applies only to the reward aspect. He noted that Ramadan Umrah does not exempt a person from the obligatory Hajj duty if they are capable. Buya Yahya added that Umrah serves to erase minor sins committed between one Umrah and the next. The explanation was cited on Monday June 8 2026.
