DPRD Jember member goes viral for playing games and smoking during stunting meeting

A video of DPRD Jember member Achmad Syahri Assidiqi playing games and smoking during a Commission D meeting on stunting and health issues on 11 May 2026 has gone viral on social media.

Achmad Syahri Assidiqi, the youngest DPRD Jember member for the 2024-2029 term from the Gerindra Party, was seen in the footage using his phone and smoking in an air-conditioned meeting room. The session covered measles, stunting, maternal and infant mortality rates, and the Universal Health Coverage program.

Netizens widely criticised the behaviour as unprofessional. Numerous social media comments called for strict sanctions, including immediate dismissal and demands for his resignation.

The Gerindra Party and the DPRD Jember Honorary Body will discuss the alleged ethical violation. Syahri was born on 21 June 1999 and won 12,102 votes in the 2024 election from Electoral District 6 Jember.
