Ethiopian airlines studies namibia national carrier revival

Ethiopian Airlines Group has started technical feasibility studies after receiving a request from Namibia to assist in rebuilding its national airline, with a target completion by late 2026.

The Ethiopian Airlines Group confirmed an agreement in principle with Namibia. Chief Executive Officer Mesfin Tasew stated that the final decision depends on the results of ongoing structured reviews.

Several partnership models are under evaluation to identify the best operational framework. The initiative follows a formal request from Namibia.

The studies aim to determine the viability of re-establishing the carrier in Southern Africa.
