Fifth day of trial for Cecilia Strzyzowski femicide

The fifth hearing of the trial for Cecilia Strzyzowski's femicide in Chaco uncovered emotional testimonies and digital evidence exposing manipulation and violence in her relationship with César Sena. The victim's mother confronted the defense, an IT expert displayed shocking chats, and a letter written by Cecilia was presented. The popular jury heard intimate details from the days before her disappearance in May 2023.

The fifth day of the jury trial for Cecilia Strzyzowski's femicide, which occurred in May 2023, took place in Resistencia, Chaco, with seven witnesses reconstructing key aspects of the victim's life. Gloria Romero, Cecilia's mother, began her testimony at 8:59 a.m., breaking down in tears upon hearing her daughter's audios from May 23, 2023, mentioning a trip to Ushuaia. She cried out: “Why? Why?”, prompting a break. She then confronted lawyer Olga Mongeló, defender of Emerenciano Sena: “I wanted to leave, they killed my daughter, understand? How, as a woman, do you defend a femicide?”.

Juan Ronan, Cecilia's friend and ex-partner, testified as a protected witness and read messages about violence episodes. One from June 1, 2023, stated: “If I die, I want to tell you that I love you.”. Psychologist María Eugenia Álvarez Piccili confirmed, in 2023 sessions, a physical violence incident in May inside a truck, where César Sena grabbed her by the neck. Cecilia mentioned couple's therapy and a Ushuaia trip offered by Marcela Acuña through political contacts; her last session was scheduled for June 6 but never happened.

IT expert Carolina Pasarelo presented chats from Cecilia's phone at 2:20 p.m., revealing control and manipulation. On September 17, 2022, post-wedding, they discussed divorce: César said “According to my mom, we can sign an agreement act”, and Cecilia replied: “The last thing I thought a day after getting married is that I would divorce.”. On May 4, 2023: “I want to go back to not being afraid to be alone with you.”. On May 23: “I only have one fear. It would be the most important decision of my life, but also the most dangerous.”.

Marcela Acuña's defense, at 3:05 p.m., displayed a letter from Cecilia to her mother-in-law, describing manipulation: “He always has a plan, no problem if it's legal or not, if he lies, if he hurts people.”. Other witnesses included Melani Maksimchuk, César's friend; Rita Romero, former piquetero movement member; and forensic doctor Carlos Zárate, who discussed scars on César. The jury of twelve Chaco residents (six women and six men) will judge the seven accused; the trial continues on Tuesday.
