Hong Kong man dies after e-bike plunges from platform

A 54-year-old man died in Yuen Long after losing control of his e-bike and falling from a goods platform early on Sunday.

The incident occurred around 4am on Tong Yan San Tsuen Road. Police received a report at 9.21am and found the man, surnamed Lam, unconscious with head and hand injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers believe Lam lost control near an unloading platform, causing the e-bike to drop 1.25 metres. The New Territories North Traffic Investigation Team is handling the case.

Under the Road Traffic Ordinance, electric mobility devices are classified as motor vehicles, and unregistered use may be an offence. Police have urged witnesses to contact them at 3661 3800.
