At Plaza Matte in Puente Alto, a southern commune in the Metropolitan Region, Jeannette Jara, candidate of the Unidad por Chile and Christian Democratic Party pact, held her campaign closing event on Wednesday, December 11, 2025. The gathering, estimated by her team at around 12,000 to 15,000 people, started with hosting by Jaime Davagnino and Gloria Kenig, and artistic performances by Álvaro Henríquez with Los Pettinellis, Shamanes Crew, Tomo Como Rey, Pincheiras del Sur, and Dënver. The National Anthem was sung by folk artist Fabiola González, known as 'la Chinganera'.
Mayor Matías Toledo opened the stage, stressing the future of families and the country. Jara, on time at 21:00, delivered a 20-minute speech targeting her rival José Antonio Kast. 'He hides behind clandestine proposals that seek to roll back rights; the 40-hour workweek to live better is at stake; impunity for pedophiles is at stake; impunity for human rights violators is at stake', she stated, also referring to the January pension increase.
Jara highlighted her proposals: a vital salary of 750,000 pesos, lifting banking secrecy against organized crime, building five new prisons, and 100 police interventions in narco-controlled neighborhoods in the first 100 days. 'In my government, narcos will face a strong state that disarms and imprisons them', she promised. She also announced a reform to the appointment system for judges, notaries, and real estate conservators, a health alert against cancer, and salary improvements for Carabineros.
The candidate appealed to undecided voters: 'Talk to those who still have doubts (...) tell them about our proposals'. The event featured officialdom leaders, mayors like Claudia Pizarro of La Pintana, and figures such as comedian Paloma Salas and actor Claudio Arredondo. Jara, a Communist Party militant, emphasized her connection to Chilean reality and rejected fake news.
