Workers from the National Justice system occupied the Labor Justice headquarters in Buenos Aires on Tuesday to protest against the labor reform. The Union of Employees of the Nation's Justice (UEJN) announced a strike in rejection of the transfer of the labor jurisdiction to the Capital Federal's orbit. The event included participation from the CGT and opposition political figures.
On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, employees and unionists from the National Justice system began a strike with mobilization in defense of the National Labor Justice and in rejection of the so-called labor modernization. The action involved occupying the Labor Justice headquarters in the City of Buenos Aires, organized by the Union of Employees of the Nation's Justice (UEJN).
The protest focuses on opposing the transfer of labor justice to the jurisdiction of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, as provided in the labor reform. The motto of the measure is: “In defense of the labor jurisdiction, against the transfer of the National Justice and for the guarantee of job stability for all workers”. The UEJN's national board issued a statement calling on judicial workers across the country to join.
In front of the Palace of Justice in Plaza Lavalle, protesters set up a stage on the sidewalk and displayed banners along with photos of the legislators who voted in favor of the labor reform, in an escrache act. A speaker from the stage exclaimed: “There is the photo of each deputy and senator who betrayed the workers, who didn't even take the time to read the law”.
Julio Piumato, leader of the judicial employees, stated: “The entire legal community is unanimously against it. They are setting up a pseudo employer-only jurisdiction, it is the death of labor rights. In the City of Buenos Aires, Justice does what the City Government wants. Whoever governs the City controls Justice”. The UEJN statement adds that the Government seeks to “colonize the Judicial Power to put it at the service of large economic groups. They intend to close the National Labor Justice to replace it with a justice reduced to the scope of the Capital Federal”.
The General Confederation of Labor (CGT) joined the event with members of its National Steering Committee and dozens of union organizations, expressing solidarity. Piumato emphasized: “Many CGT unions, organizations, and legislators have joined, because this fight is for social justice. This bill, which will surely be passed on Friday, will ravage the rights enshrined in article 14 bis and 75 subsection 22 of the National Constitution”. He added: “Now it will be the Justice's turn to fulfill its role of constitutional control”.
Opposition representatives, such as deputies Myriam Bregman and Romina del Plá, and deputy Néstor Pitrola from the Left Front, participated in the event. Bregman said: “I am accompanying, with this reform they want to destroy the workers' ability to claim. It's something Mauricio Macri has wanted to do for years, to take over labor justice to favor his businessman friends”. She concluded: “I can't expect anything from the Senate, I hope to build the necessary social force to defeat this reform”.
