Lieutenant colonel uses 'alpha male' rhetoric in messages before femicide

Messages from Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto to his wife, soldier Gisele Alves Santana, reveal a male dominance ideology shortly before he was accused of killing her on February 18. The officer, jailed in São Paulo, denies the crime and has a history of harassment complaints against women in the Military Police. Investigators link the rhetoric to controlling practices in the relationship.

Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto, 53, sent messages to soldier Gisele Alves Santana, 32, describing himself as an "alpha male provider" and her as a "beta female obedient and submissive". "I treat you like every alpha male treats his wife: with love, affection, attention and alpha male authority as provider and beta female obedient and submissive", he wrote. Neto also called himself "king" and "sovereign", demanding affection and sex in exchange for financial support.

Gisele was killed with a headshot on February 18, 2026, in the couple's apartment in Brás, central São Paulo. Neto is jailed and denies committing the femicide. His defense claims disclosure of decontextualized private content.

Documents show Neto's history of at least four episodes of harassment, violence or threats against female military policewomen over the past 17 years. In 2022, he transferred four PMs without justification for discussing his relationship with Gisele, receiving a one-day detention punishment. Cases include assaulting Gisele at headquarters between 2022 and 2024, ex-wife police reports in 2009-2010, and sexual harassment in 2025.

The Military Police is investigating complaints through the Inspectorate and plans a Justification Council, which could expel him. Experts like psychologist Adriano Beiras see 'alpha male' rhetoric as hegemonic masculinity that legitimizes violence against women.
