Mets place Christian Scott on injured list

The New York Mets placed pitcher Christian Scott on the 15-day injured list with a right hip impingement on Monday. The team plans to activate Kodai Senga on Tuesday to fill the roster spot.

Scott began feeling hip discomfort after his last outing against the Cardinals. Soreness persisted into his bullpen session, prompting an MRI on Sunday that confirmed the impingement. He received a cortisone injection and reported improvement by Monday afternoon.

Manager Carlos Mendoza said Senga feels 100 percent and is ready to compete at the major league level. Senga has been on the injured list since April 28 with lumbar spine inflammation and ulnar nerve irritation. He looked sharp in his most recent minor league start last Thursday.

The Mets rotation includes Nolan McLean and Freddy Peralta as mainstays, with Sean Manaea and Tobias Myers also in consideration. Senga signed a five-year, $75 million contract with the team prior to the 2023 season.
