President Javier Milei gathered his cabinet on Friday to back his chief of staff, Manuel Adorni, who is under investigation for alleged illicit enrichment. Adorni led a press conference at Casa Rosada with ministers Luis Caputo and Alejandra Monteoliva to announce the 'Super RIGI' and a major anti-drug operation.
Milei opened the two-and-a-half-hour meeting with a half-hour speech in which he reaffirmed his political support for Adorni and reviewed the general outlook of the administration. The gathering aimed to settle internal tensions after questions about the coordinating minister’s assets.
Adorni, Caputo and Monteoliva presented the new Large Investment Incentive Regime, targeting sectors such as lithium batteries, electric cars and copper refining. Caputo noted the scheme could attract investments of 20 to 30 billion dollars, with a 15% corporate tax rate and accelerated depreciation.
In the press conference Adorni also celebrated the seizure of 400 kilograms of cocaine, describing it as one of the most significant operations in the country’s history. On the same day federal courts rejected a request by La Pampa province to suspend the new Glaciers Law.
