The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two security guards accused of stealing an official vehicle from a government organization. The incident involved a white Toyota Hilux from the L-Press initiative, reported after a distress call on December 11, 2025. Authorities recovered the vehicle and detained the suspects for further investigation.

On December 11, 2025, at around 9:30 p.m., the coordinator of the Bauchi L-PRES Government Organisation received a distress call regarding the theft of an official vehicle from its premises along Adamu Jumba Road in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Bauchi. The following morning, on December 12 at about 9:00 a.m., Ibrahim Markus, a private security supervisor with Royal Security Guard Limited from Wuntin Dada, Bauchi, reported the matter to the B Division Police Headquarters.

The suspects, both 19 years old, were identified as Yarda John from GRA, Bauchi, and Jessy Danjuma from State Low-Cost, Bauchi. They were private security guards posted to the organization's site and allegedly conspired to take the white Toyota Hilux with registration number 03B-04 BA.

Police operatives swiftly located and recovered the stolen vehicle at Bauchi Club in the GRA. The two suspects were arrested on the spot. According to the command's spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the investigation into the theft is ongoing, and the suspects will face court charges once it concludes.

This incident highlights vulnerabilities in securing government assets, particularly those under initiatives like L-PRES, which focuses on local government performance. No additional details on the motive or prior incidents were provided in the report.
