Police seize 2.5 tons of cocaine in Valle del Cauca

National Police seized 2.5 tons of cocaine hydrochloride hidden in gas cylinders on the Mediacanoa-La Virginia road in Ansermanuevo.

The operation took place on July 22, 2026, by officers from the Dirección de Tránsito y Transporte. They arrested one person and seized a tractor-trailer traveling from Yumbo to Cartagena.

The packages, marked with the inscription “100%”, were hidden inside cylinders of compressed natural gas. The substance still requires confirmation through the Prueba de Identificación Preliminar Homologada.

Colonel Jair Alonso Parra Archila stated that the action affected the finances of criminal organizations. The shipment would have an approximate value of 13,907 million pesos.

The arrested person was handed over to the Fiscalía General de la Nación. Police will maintain controls on the country’s main road corridors.
