After Argentina’s comeback win against Egypt in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup, leaders from across the political spectrum took to social media to celebrate the team’s qualification to the quarterfinals.
President Javier Milei was among the first to react. He posted an enthusiastic message that read "Vamos Argentina carajo" and called the victory a historic comeback.
Former president Mauricio Macri thanked the squad and highlighted the team’s example. "Qué huevos pusieron por Dios" and "qué ejemplo es este grupo para los argentinos" were among his comments.
Minister Patricia Bullrich and officials including Jorge Macri and Luis Caputo also shared messages of support. Claudio Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Association, praised the team’s spirit.
Opposition figures such as Myriam Bregman and Gustavo Sáenz joined the celebrations, although some Peronist leaders including Cristina Fernández de Kirchner did not post messages.
