The Cincinnati Reds beat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-2 on Thursday afternoon to avoid a sweep in their four-game series. Catcher Jose Trevino hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning while Sal Stewart added a solo shot in the first.
Jose Trevino connected for his first home run in more than a year on a 95.6 mph cutter from Brewers starter Jacob Misiorowski. The 33-year-old went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs as the Reds built a five-run lead.
Sal Stewart also homered off Misiorowski, tagging a 102.7 mph fastball for a solo shot that marked the fastest pitch a Reds player has homered against under pitch tracking. The 22-year-old now leads the team with 17 home runs.
Chase Burns earned the win for Cincinnati after allowing two runs over six innings. Misiorowski gave up five runs in five innings but took the loss. TJ Friedl added a solo homer in the seventh inning.
Reds manager Terry Francona noted Stewart's strength on the early homer. Brewers manager Pat Murphy praised Trevino's clutch hitting throughout the game.
