DJ Warras murder case: Second suspect arrested

South African police have arrested a second suspect in the ongoing investigation into the December 2025 murder of DJ Warras, a 25-year-old Mozambican national and entertainment figure found shot in an informal settlement near Johannesburg. The suspect faces murder and immigration charges, with a court appearance on Monday—following bail denial for the first suspect earlier this week.

The murder of DJ Warras, real name Warrick Stock, occurred on December 16, 2025, when he was shot by assailants shortly after parking his vehicle in Johannesburg's CBD. Initial arrests of two suspects were made days later, with investigations linking the case to broader issues in the entertainment and private security sectors.

On Saturday night, Gauteng police's Serious and Violent Crimes Investigation Provincial Investigation Unit, with Crime Intelligence and Ekurhuleni Metro Police, arrested a 25-year-old Mozambican national illegally in the country during a targeted operation in the Marathon informal settlement in Primrose.

Brigadier Brenda Muridili, Gauteng Police spokesperson, confirmed: “A special investigation unit... arrested a Mozambican national who is illegal in the country and the suspect has been detained.”

The second suspect will appear in magistrates court on Monday, charged with murder and contravening the Immigration Act. This follows the rejection of bail for the first suspect, Victor Mthethowakhe Majola, who returns to court on February 11, 2026.

Police dismissed rumors of a third suspect being shot dead. Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Tommy Mthombeni stated: “The issue of someone being shot dead... it’s not information I have.”

Authorities continue probing leads, while DJ Warras's family declined comment amid their distress. Previous coverage detailed the initial arrests and funeral.
