Steelers add Texas Tech WR Caleb Douglas to combine interest list

Texas Tech wide receiver Caleb Douglas revealed he met formally with the Pittsburgh Steelers at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. The meeting adds Douglas to the list of 17 receivers the team has interviewed there. Douglas impressed with his combine performance and college production.

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to scout wide receivers ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, with Texas Tech's Caleb Douglas now confirmed as one of their formal Combine meetings. Douglas disclosed the interview in a conversation with Sports Illustrated's Justin Melo, bringing the total to 17 receivers met by the team during the late February and early March event in Indianapolis. He also held discussions with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Miami Dolphins via Zoom, along with the Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, and Jacksonville Jaguars. “I had a formal interview at the NFL Combine with the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Douglas said. Last season, the 6-foot-3 1/4, 206-pound receiver caught 54 passes for 846 yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games, earning second-team All-Big 12 honors. He recorded a 4.39-second 40-yard dash, 31.5-inch vertical leap, and 10-foot-6 broad jump at the Combine, plus invitations to the Senior Bowl. Over two years at Texas Tech, Douglas amassed 114 receptions for 1,723 yards and 13 touchdowns across 27 games, following a transfer from Florida where he had 21 catches for 308 yards and three scores in 13 appearances. Hailing from the Houston area as a former four-star recruit, Douglas follows in the footsteps of his father, Cedric, a quarterback at Vanderbilt and Texas Southern. The Steelers, who traded for Michael Pittman Jr. to bolster their receiver room alongside D.K. Metcalf under new head coach Mike McCarthy, may view Douglas as a Day 3 option for added speed and size.
