Pittsburgh Steelers fourth-round selection Kaden Wetjen has yet to impress observers during the team's offseason program. Beat writer Mike DeFabo voiced concerns about the return specialist's limited offensive contributions so far.
The Steelers drafted Wetjen at No. 121 overall to handle kick and punt returns. DeFabo said on his Yinziders podcast that he still needs to see more from the player at practice. DeFabo noted that Wetjen remains buried on the depth chart and questioned using a fourth-round pick on a specialist. He added that Wetjen did not establish a significant offensive role at Iowa. Wetjen was not expecting an early selection and was on the golf course when the call came. General manager Omar Khan highlighted the player's offensive work at the East-West Shrine Bowl, but that production has not appeared during OTAs in Pittsburgh. Special teams drills have been limited to walkthroughs so far, leaving Wetjen's primary skill set largely untested. DeFabo said nobody will care about offensive development if Wetjen becomes a standout returner like Devin Hester.
