Wetang’ula urges western Kenya residents to register to back Ruto in 2027

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has urged residents of western Kenya to register as voters to support President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.

Wetang’ula made the call during a fundraiser in Kimang’eti, Malava sub-county. He said the western region should give President Ruto a second term because of development projects started by his government.

He cited the construction of two level-six hospitals in Kakamega and Bungoma counties among the major projects. The hospitals will allow residents to access specialised treatment near their homes instead of travelling to Eldoret or Nairobi.

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa urged residents to take part in the ongoing voter registration exercise. He set targets for the county to have 1.5 million registered voters along with other western counties to reach a combined total of nearly four million.
