Chief of Cabinet Manuel Adorni filed a rectified asset declaration in which he acknowledged omitting about 500 thousand dollars in Bitcoin investments. The move sparked criminal complaints and calls for his resignation from the opposition and allied sectors.
Adorni explained that he kept savings outside the formal system with his wife Bettina Angeletti for years, and that the funds come from cryptocurrency operations carried out between 2013 and 2018. The official registered in the simplified regime of the Ley de Inocencia Fiscal and said he will pay the corresponding taxes and fines.
Federal prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita ordered new evidence measures, including requests for information from ARCA, ANSES and Lemon Cash, as well as a survey on Bitcoin operations. The case for alleged illicit enrichment is being handled by judge Ariel Lijo.
Coalición Cívica lawmakers Mónica Frade and Maximiliano Ferraro filed a criminal complaint for malicious omission in the 2024 and 2025 asset declarations. The PRO demanded that Javier Milei defend change and not Adorni, while governor Axel Kicillof stated that if the official were Peronist he would be in prison.
Adorni did not include in his filing the reserved annex with his wife's assets, although his circle indicated he has until July 31 to complete it.
