Banu Sıvacı's 'Hear the Yellow' sweeps Taormina Film Festival awards

Banu Sıvacı’s drama 'Hear the Yellow' won Best Film and Best Script at the 72nd Taormina Film Festival. The film’s leads also took acting honors at the event, which concluded on June 14 in Sicily.

The festival jury, led by director Jane Campion, awarded the top prizes to the Turkish drama that follows a young woman returning to her drought-stricken village. Süleyman Kadim Kabaali and Selva Erdener received Best Actor and Best Actress for their performances.

Greta Scarano shared the Best Actress award ex-aequo for her role in Guido Chiesa’s 'Piccolo Miracolo'. Tut Nyuot earned Best Emerging Actor for the prison drama 'Animol', while Berfin Sönmez won Best Emerging Actress for 'Gropiusstadt Supernova'.

The Taormina Youth Campus gave its Golden Cariddino to Gore Verbinski’s 'Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die'. 'Piccolo Miracolo' received a special mention, and Fabio Schifilliti’s short film 'Fili Invisibili' won the ARCA award.

The event opened with the Italian premiere of HBO’s 'House of the Dragon' and featured the world premiere of 'Bear Country' starring Russell Crowe. The festival ran from June 10 to 14.
