Simon Green, performing as Bonobo, has revealed details of his upcoming album Distance in Static. The record arrives September 11 via Ninja Tune and includes contributions from several guest vocalists.
The album serves as the follow-up to Bonobo's 2022 release Fragments. It features Arooj Aftab on Fire on the Water, Nilüfer Yanya on Youth’s Fountain, Joy Crookes on Always on Your Side, Nicole Miglis on Talk to Me, Ichiko Aoba on Equinoctial, and additional appearances by Kanako Yamamoto and Aanya Martin. Lead single Me and You has already appeared in Green's recent club performances. In a statement, Green explained the title by noting that he liked the idea of listening for a distant signal and trying to find something in the noise. Green will support the album with a North American tour beginning November 5 in Austin, Texas. Earlier dates in August include DJ sets in Spain. Bonobo previously collaborated with Kamasi Washington and Floating Points on a soundtrack for the anime series Lazarus.
