Danilo Neves Pereira, a 35-year-old Brazilian professor living in Argentina, was found dead at Hospital Ramos Mejía after a collapse. He was admitted as NN on April 15 and identified on Monday by city police. Authorities are investigating with no signs of violence.
Danilo Neves Pereira, from Goiás and aged 35, had lived in Buenos Aires for six months to complete his doctoral thesis. The teacher, with 17 years teaching English at the Federal University of Goiás and experience at Emory University via Fulbright, was also a drag artist as “Zelda, La Reina” and published a book of short stories in 2025.
His last hours place him at an apartment on Avenida de Mayo 700, where he arranged a meeting via a dating app with someone named “Ulises”. His final message was logged around 4 a.m. on April 14. Hours later, on April 15, he was admitted to Hospital Ramos Mejía in collapse and died the next day.
The preliminary autopsy indicated a psychotropic collapse linked to cocaine use. City police's Missing Persons Division identified him on Monday, and the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office 17 is leading the probe, reviewing security cameras, movements, and his phone. Judicial sources said there are no signs of violence, with focus on medical causes.
Family members are arranging repatriation of the body with Brazilian consulate support.
