Cavite EcoPark named one of TIME Magazine's greatest places

Kaway’an EcoPark in General Trias, Cavite has been named one of the world’s greatest places of 2026 by TIME Magazine. It is the sole Philippine entry on the list.

Travel writer Cynthia Rosenfeld highlighted the site’s 4,900 square feet open-air Marilag Grand Pavilion. She noted its steel skeleton designed to withstand typhoons and the arching Marajuyo Bridge over a lagoon.

Rosenfeld described clusters of bamboo columns beneath the pavilion’s canopy that create an enchanted, forest-like ambience. Visitors can enjoy picnicking, boating, horseback riding, birdwatching, yoga and workshops on bamboo farming.

CitiHomes Builder and Development Inc. president Rosie Tsai said construction began in 2019 and the EcoPark opened in December 2025. She is coordinating with the Department of Tourism for accreditation.

Tsai said the project reframes bamboo as a foundation for climate-resilient design. “I love how the bamboo bends to the wind and yet it rises again. That’s the Filipino spirit,” she said.
