The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines expressed support for the White Ribbon March set for June 28 at the EDSA People Power Monument, calling it a faith-based appeal for truth and accountability.
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) announced its backing for the event in a statement released on June 22. CBCP President Gilbert Garcera described the march as a non-partisan effort to promote truth, accountability, justice and righteousness in public life.
Garcera encouraged participants to keep the gathering peaceful and prayerful. He also urged the faithful to attend Holy Mass on June 28, noting the Eucharist as a source of strength for justice and reconciliation.
The CBCP released a prayer titled “A Nation’s Prayer for Enlightenment, Conversion and Renewal.” The prayer calls on public officials to serve with honesty, justice and compassion while seeking the common good.
