Chulalongkorn University to build Thailand's first trapped-ion quantum computer with Chinese partners

Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok announced on Tuesday a partnership with Chinese research institutions to build Thailand’s first trapped-ion quantum computer.

The project involves the University of Science and Technology of China and Hefei Unitary Quantum Technology Co., Ltd.

Chulalongkorn University President Wilert Puriwat described the partnership as an important step for Thailand in quantum technology.

Xu Jinshi, a professor at the University of Science and Technology of China, said the computer will serve as the foundation for a new joint laboratory to train scientific talent and offer algorithm validation services to other Thai universities.

He Ran of Hefei Unitary Quantum Technology expressed hope that the partnership will strengthen mutual trust and lead to new scientific breakthroughs between the two nations.
