Egypt and Jordan urged an immediate halt to military escalation on Tuesday, backing diplomatic solutions during a phone call between their foreign ministers as US President Donald Trump warned of possible renewed action against Iran.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi spoke by telephone as part of consultations on regional developments. They condemned Israeli violations in the occupied West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem while stressing the need to maintain the ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid.
The ministers warned against further escalation that could widen the conflict. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s solidarity with Jordan and rejected any threat to the kingdom’s sovereignty.
US President Donald Trump told Fox News that Washington had held good talks with Iran and preferred an agreement, but remained ready to resume military operations if no deal was reached. He said the United States was enforcing a naval blockade and had degraded Iranian air defences and military infrastructure.
