Journalist Lennart Ekdal was denied an interview with responsible politician Sandra Ivanovic Rubin during his investigation into eating disorder care in Stockholm.
The documentary ”Sveket – Striden om ätstörningsvården” examines how care has changed since Region Stockholm took over responsibility in 2022. Patients and staff report closed doors and discharges before recovery.
Livia Bask, 18, describes coercive care at Stockholms Centrum för ätstörningar: ”One time when I was to be tube-fed they wrestled me down in the bed and strapped my hands and feet.”
When Ekdal tried to confront Sandra Ivanovic Rubin (MP), chair of the psychiatry committee, the team was stopped for security reasons at Landstingshuset. Ekdal says he has never experienced similar treatment.
Operations manager Mikaela Lithman states that care follows Socialstyrelsen guidelines and shows good quality. The documentary airs Monday evening on TV3 and Viaplay.
